Workgroup Goals: Create comprehensive policies aimed at restricting and regulating alcohol outlets and the commercial availability of alcohol in ways that reduce youth access to alcohol.

Workgroup Objectives are to:

• Advocate for the passage of a deemed approved ordinance in appropriate San Diego County municipalities.
• Preserve, strengthen and broaden the CUP process to close loopholes in the appeals process.
• Advocate for the implementation of public convenience and necessity in appropriate San Diego County municipalities.
• Increase community awareness of, support for and utilization of local control ordinances such as public convenience and necessity, deemed approved, and conditional use permits.
• Work to establish a countywide system of implementation, participation, and compliance for local control ordinances.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of local control ordinances.
• Increase consistent, high-visibility enforcement of commercial outlets.
• Advocate for increased staffing and resources for the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC).
• Continue to convene, monitor and support the Alcohol Outlet Policy Workgroup to achieve UDI Work Plan goals and objectives.
